Travel Skincare Essentials: 13 Things You Have to Pack

Beauty + Style, Travel

Take care of your skin when traveling, what to pack for skincare when traveling, travel sized skincare, mini skincare products, Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial, Sephora Collection Face Masks, Clinique Moisturizer, First Aid Beauty Cleanser, Foreo, Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner, Cotton Rounds, Simple Micellar Water
Traveling can really take a toll on you. It’s important to make time to take care of your skin even when you’re on vacation. Since I usually only bring carry-ons, I use travel sized products or put my favorite products in travel sized containers. Life hack: it’s usually a better deal to buy the big size of a product and pour some into your own container for travel than it is to buy the travel sized items! I travel a lot, so I have my travel skincare routine down to a T. Here’s what I always bring:

I love this little compact face cleansing tool for travel. I make sure it’s all charged up before I leave so I don’t have to bring the charger. I use this every day at home so I like to continue using it on vacation! If my face gets too much sun or gets super dry, I only use it every other day to make sure I don’t dry out my skin too much. I got this cute little mini Foreo in my FabFitFun box this summer and I’m obsessed! It’s even smaller than my Foreo Luna so it could not be more perfect for travel.

This thing is so amazing. I can’t rave about it enough! Instead of bringing a pack of makeup wipes that take up a bunch of space, I just bring this bad boy along. All you have to do is get it wet and it removes all of your makeup with one swipe. I make sure it is freshly laundered before I leave for a trip, that way I can get about a weeks worth of uses out of it before I need to wash it again! You don’t have to worry about a pack of makeup wipes leaking all over your suitcase or taking up too much space anymore.

My favorite toner at the moment is the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water. They sell the cutest little travel sized bottles at Target that I always take on vacation with me. Micellar water is perfect for a little mid-day pick me up when I’m at the beach or right before bed to make sure all of my makeup is off.

I always travel with my prescription acne medicine to help keep acne under control and keep wrinkles from forming. I use a retinol cream prescribed by my dermatologist to keep my skin from showing signs of aging.

As I start to age (I know, 22 is old af), I have been starting to religiously use an eye cream. I want the fewest amount of wrinkles possible when I’m old! I don’t always travel with eye cream, but I try to use it as often as possible. This means not skipping out on it when I’m traveling. I’ve tried a lot of high end eye creams, but this Neutrogena one is my current fave. It can be purchased at the drugstore and is super affordable. I have very sensitive eyes, so finding a good eye cream can be challenging for me.

It’s so important to protect your skin from the sun year-round. I have always felt strongly about protecting my skin, but I especially need to now because of some of the medications I’m on and the retinol cream I use. When you’re on vacation, it’s even more important to apply sunscreen in the morning and re-apply throughout the day if you’re out in the sun.

This product claims to do so much – from reducing aging to smoothing overall skin tone. I really love this and use it daily at home, so when I’m traveling I like to bring it along too. It’s another anti-aging step in my skincare routine that I hope will help keep my skin looking younger for longer.

I have tried soooo many moisturizers and most of them are not great. Enter the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer. The moisturizer is lightweight and does not irritate my skin or case breakouts. When I’m traveling, ESPECIALLY somewhere sunny and tropical, I put moisturizer on several times a day. If I don’t my skin gets super nasty looking and starts to peel off from dryness.

I have also tried soooo many cleansers from high end to cheap drugstores ones. I have mixed feelings about some of the ones I’ve tried, so when I’m on vacation I always stick to the basics. One of my favorites is the First Aid Beauty Facial Cleanser. My skin sporadically gets super dry as mentioned before and this cleanser helps keep that under control. It’s very gentle but leaves my skin feeling very clean. I know this cleanser won’t break me out and will keep my skin relatively normal while I’m on vacation!

Airplanes and travel make my dry lips exponentially worse than usual. I usually travel with like 3 chapsticks in case I lose one. My favorites at the moment are the Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner and the Brazilian Kiss Chapstick.

I love bringing along an individual face mask that I can use for a chill night on vacation. I love that they make individually packaged masks because a) they’re cheap and b) you don’t have to feel guilty about it taking up room in your suitcase because it’s so small. I really like the Sephora Collection face masks. They make your skin feel baby soft and leave your skin glowing for all those vacation pics. Sometimes when I travel with someone else, I’ll bring a few with me. There’s just something so relaxing about laying in bed at the end of a full-filled day of travel with a face mask on!

I’ve heard so much buzz about this product, and ever since I tried it I’ve been hooked. It’s a chemical peel mask that you do once a week. Afterward, your face feels baby soft and all the dead skin cells are sloughed off. Not gonna lie, this stuff burned my face when I first put it on. The burn eventually subsided for the most part, and wow was I amazed. The results are worth the pain. I always travel with this because it helps keep my skin glowy and healthy looking when I’m constantly on the go.

I like to keep skincare pretty simple when I’m at home and when I’m traveling. These favorites have stood the test of time over dozens of states and countries so I definitely recommend them! My most important tip for travel skincare is not to try any new products the week before or during your travel. You never know how your skin will react to certain things! You wouldn’t want to suddenly get a ton of breakouts or redness while you’re on vacation.
