The Ultimate Guide to 50+ Coffee Shops in Austin, Texas

Map of Coffee Shops in Austin Texas, Austin Texas Gravel Guide, List of Coffee Shops in Austin, Austin Coffee Shops
It’s finally here…the project I worked on for the entire summer and the 6 months following: my complete guide to the best coffee shops in Austin, Texas. In case you haven’t noticed, I consider myself a bit of a coffee connoisseur. When I lived in Texas last summer, I had a long list of coffee shops I wanted to visit. My favorite part of Austin is that there are literally hundreds of places to get coffee! So, get ready to skip the Starbucks and pick one (or a few) of these local coffee shops instead:
Lucky Lab Coffee Company in Austin Texas, Iced coffee

Lucky Lab Coffee Company
Location: 2421 San Antonio St, Austin, TX 78705
My Order: Iced White Chocolate Cold Brew Latte + Strawberry Poptart Pastry

I love dogs and I love coffee, so of course I’m obsessed with this place. I got a cold brew latte and it was amazing. I’ve never had a latte with anything but espresso until I visited Lucky Lab. They have a huge assortment of fresh pastries that are SO pretty to look at and also taste delicious. My eye landed on a cute little freshly-baked poptart style pastry with real strawberry filling inside. It was warm and flaky and delicious – everything I’d hoped it would be. On top of having amazing coffee and pastries, they have adorable dog-themed apparel and stickers. The only downside is that there isn’t a ton of seating inside, and it was full every time I went there. They do have ample patio seating though if that’s more your style. Overall, I really loved the vibe of this coffee shop. I also spent wayyyy too much money on stickers and t-shirts.

Seventh Flag Coffee Company Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Seventh Flag Coffee*
Location: 1506 S 1st St, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Blackberry Vanilla Latte

This coffee shop is so adorable – it’s inside an old house. They have free parking available in a parking lot behind the building which is something that’s hard to find in Austin! It’s in a great location and sits only a few blocks away from South Congress. I really love the minimal decor inside, it reminds me of my own house! There’s not a ton of working space indoors, but they have a great shaded patio if you like to work outside. They also sell some some really cool merchandise. An employee recommended their signature blackberry vanilla syrup that they make in-house (I think this is seasonal) – so I got an iced latte with it. I have never tried anything quite like it. It was a perfect combination of coffee and sweetness! Seventh Flag also offers other syrups options and a menu of basic coffee drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. I don’t usually like fruity-type drinks, but I was pleasantly surprised with the blackberry vanilla syrup. I think this would be a great place to spend an afternoon working or chatting with friends. From what I took in over the summer, this is one of the most popular coffee shops in Austin!

Irene's Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Irene’s*
Location: 506 West Ave, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Iced Irene’s Original

Irene’s is actually a restaurant, but they also have a walk up coffee bar window outside that is open super late every night. From what I’ve heard they have some awesome deals on alcoholic drinks too, so Irene’s would be a great place to visit not just for coffee with friends, but also for drinks with your girls! It’s located in the heart of downtown. They have a few parking meters in front of the building, but parking can be a little tricky. Trust me, it’s worth it though. They have a really inviting outdoor seating area and this super cute ivy wall that is great for Instagram pictures. I tried the Irene’s Original Iced drink to see what it was all about. I heard it was a must-try drink in Austin and people were raving about it on Yelp. I had been searching all over Austin for a butterscotch flavored coffee, and I heard this has a slight butterscotch taste – I was pumped to try it. Let me tell you, it was seriously amazing. The Iced Irene’s Original exceeded every expectation I had. I love sweet iced drinks and this hit the spot. I probably could have drank a gallon of Iced Irene’s Original! I’d drive 40 minutes downtown any day just to get another one.

West Pecan Coffee and Beer Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

West Pecan Coffee + Beer*
Location: 100 Pecan St W, Pflugerville, TX 78660
My Order: Iced Cinnamon Brown Sugar Latte

West Pecan is a coffee shop that opened up just a few blocks away from where I lived for the summer. I was so excited that there was somewhere close to home other than Starbucks that I could hang out and work at! They have a huge parking lot which is perfect. The coffee shop is decorated beautifully. It has huge open windows and ample sunlight coming in – all the sunlight definitely helped motivate me!  They have plenty of seating and outlets – something that is surprisingly hard to come by in a lot of Austin coffee shops. I visited West Pecan a few times because I really loved it. My favorite drink was an iced latte with their house made cinnamon brown sugar syrup.  They have many other homemade syrup options as well. I would probably get a little extra syrup next time because like I said, I love sweet drinks. For someone who only likes a tiny hint of sweetness, this is the drink for you. One of the owners, Mary, is so sweet, and you can really tell that she pours her heart and soul into this business. Another fun thing about West Pecan is that they serve alcoholic drinks as well. You can spend the day working with a coffee and finish up the day working with a glass of wine – I love it! It’s a little bit of a drive from downtown, but it’s so worth it to get away from the madness of the city while grabbing a midday pick-me-up.

Starbucks Reserve Store Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Starbucks Reserve
Location: 3120 Palm Way, Unit 110, Austin, TX 78758
My Order: Iced Hazelnut Bianco Latte

I work part time at Starbucks but I’ve never been to a Reserve store until my stay in Austin. Starbucks was the first place I ever tried coffee and it started my addiction. A Starbucks Reserve store is basically a huge Starbucks that also has a Reserve coffee bar with dozens of specialty drinks. There isn’t one anywhere near where I live in Wisconsin and since I work at Starbucks, I couldn’t wait to try this one out. The store is huge and located in the Domain. It’s a great location. They have a lot of seating, but I could never find an open seat the multiple times I went. That was kind of frustrating – the other thing I didn’t love was the lack of outlets (not that it mattered that much for me, since I couldn’t find a seat). I wanted to try something special from the Reserve Bar so I got the iced Hazelnut Bianco Latte. It was pretty good. I didn’t love it and probably won’t get it again (because there are so many local coffee shops I liked more), but I’m glad I tried it. If there was a Reserve store at home, I would definitely get this drink again, probably a little sweeter though. Overall, I’m glad I stopped in and experienced a Reserve Bar. It was definitely a cool experience and much different from the Starbucks at home. My favorite part about the whole experience is the reserve cup that my drink came in. It’s probably not meant to be reusable, but I kept mine and I use it all the time! It’s a thicker plastic, like a plastic cup you’d buy at Target. I love filling mine with water and reminiscing about my time in Austin when I drink from it. Visiting the Starbucks Reserve store really gave me a new appreciation for the small local Austin coffee shops.

Caffe Medici Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Caffe Medici*
Location: 1100 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Caramel Latte

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I didn’t expect to be able to find parking, but I found a front row spot right away (and it was free!). They also have a free parking garage available. I loved the vibe in this coffee shop and the decor totally matched my aesthetic – I also loved how clean it was inside. I got an iced caramel latte and it was seriously so good! It’s been a long time since I’ve had an iced latte that I’ve loved this much. It’s way better than the ones I get from Starbucks. The espresso was very smooth and didn’t have a bitter aftertaste at all. Not to mention, they have the best ice ever. It’s the tiny kind that hospitals have. I love the “community” vibe Medici gives off. The staff is so nice, and they have a huge variety of drinks and snacks available. There’s a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. It’s chill enough that you could work all day here or meet with a friend to chat over coffee. I felt very relaxed at Caffe Medici while I sipped my coffee and worked on my computer all day. This is one of my favorites from the summer. I went to the South Lamar location every time I visited because I loved it so much, but they have 3 other Austin locations I’d love to try out!

Violet Crown Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe, Cold Brew Coffee

Violet Crown Coffee*
Locations: SoCo Farmer’s Market (Saturdays), Texas Farmers Market (Sunday + Wednesday)
My Order: Cold Brew with Half and Half + a Bottle of Cold Brew

This is a small little coffee company operated by two people. They exclusively sell their cold brew at farmers markets and coffee pop-ups, and it’s so good that they usually sell out! Be sure to check out their Instagram, @violetcrowncoffee, to find out where you can locate them on a particular day. It’s obviously not somewhere you’d be able to plant yourself and work for the day since they don’t have a physical store, but it’s a great stop if you want to explore the farmers market. I’ll admit that I’m not usually a cold brew lover, but their cold brew was life changing. It’s strong but also very smooth – it’s the perfect refreshing drink on a hot Austin day. They sell cups of cold brew and also bottles and growlers. When you visit, you will want to take a bottle or two home with you…trust me. I drank my bottle in less than 24 hours. Also, can we talk about how affordable it is for such great coffee? One of my favorite parts about Violet Crown Coffee (other than the amazing tasting coffee, obviously) is the simplicity. They have a small menu, but they have perfected their cold brew. Instead of doing many drinks just okay, they do only cold brew, and they do it the BEST. I am so impressed.

Greater Goods Coffee Roasters Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Greater Goods*
Location: 2501 E 5th St, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Caramel Latte

This coffee shop has the most aesthetically pleasing decor. Greater Goods is not just a coffee shop, they’re also a coffee roaster that sells their coffee to shops all over Austin and the United States. I spotted their beans multiple times over the summer when creating this guide. They have amazing tasting espresso that is noticeably better than chain coffee shops. This location had a neighborhood feel that I loved. It had a huge parking lot too! I was obsessed with their outdoor seating area – it’s so open and inviting. I’m not usually one to sit outside at coffee shops, but here I would any day. I got an iced latte with caramel and it was pretty good. It wasn’t quite sweet enough for my taste though – next time I’d add more caramel. The espresso in the drink was noticeably delicious though. Maybe I’m a coffee snob for noticing that! Overall this coffee shop is a really great place to spend the day working.

Illuminate Coffee Bar Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Illuminate Coffee Bar*
Location: 12129 FM 620 N, Unit 102, Austin, TX 78750
My Order: Iced Sweet Caramel Latte

This was one of my summer favorites. I went to Illuminate Coffee Bar (formerly Cafe Yolly) for the first time during their grand opening party. I could tell this coffee shop was good because the line was out the door. There’s plenty of parking and tons of seating inside. Illuminate has a great atmosphere and a warm, inviting space. They have a full menu of drink and food options so there’s something for everyone. I got an iced sweet caramel latte and it was AMAZING. The drink was actually a good size – one thing I’ve noticed in Austin is that drinks are relatively small. It was the perfect amount of sweet. I wish I could figure out how to make this drink myself. The people working there were so nice and overall this coffee shop is a must-visit. I’m so glad I got to visit at such an important time in the coffee shop’s history (the rebranding from Cafe Yolly to Illuminate). This is one of those places I would go to every day if I could.

Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge*
Location: 800 W 6th St #100, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Iced Caramel Latte with Oat Milk

There are four Lola Savannah locations in Austin. I visited two of them, and my favorite was the one on 6th street. Like anywhere in downtown Austin, parking was a little tricky. The coffee shop is in a great location. It’s beautifully open and spacious inside – they share a space with the Grove. The first thing that really surprised me was how cheap everything is! It’s only $3.05 for an iced coffee and $4.30 for an iced flavored latte. Those are officially the lowest coffee shop prices I’ve seen in a long time. I got an iced caramel latte with oat milk. I’d never tried oat milk until my visit here, and I loved it! The oat milk is sweeter than normal milk. Paired with the caramel syrup, the latte was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. It was so yummy – one of my favorites! They also had the ice I love which was an extra added bonus. Lola Savannah is definitely high on my list of coffee shops to return to.

Caroline's Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Coffeehouse at Caroline*
Location: 621 Congress Ave #101, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Mexican Iced Coffee + Apple Crumble Muffin

Right in the heart of downtown lies Caroline, Coffeehouse at Caroline, and the Aloft/Element hotel. I was so excited to stop in because I’d heard so much hype about the place. The coffee shop is on the first level of the hotel. Parking is tough because it’s in the middle of the city. Coffeehouse at Caroline was packed when I stopped in, and I can see why! Not only do they have a great selection of coffee, they have the most beautiful, sprawling pastry case. Every single pastry looked so good – I had a really hard time choosing just one. I got an apple crumble muffin to go along with my Mexican Iced Coffee. All I can say is WOW. These two made a great pair. First off, we all know that I’m super picky when it comes to food and drinks. The Mexican Iced Coffee was a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I tried it. It was the perfect compliment to the muffin, which was crumby and delicious. It was for sure the best muffin I’ve ever had in my life! You can stop in on your way to work just to grab a coffee and a pastry, or you can stay for brunch with your friends. Caroline is such a great way to start your day.

Houndstooth Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Houndstooth Coffee
Location: 2823 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd #101, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

There are several Houndstooth Coffee locations in Austin, and I choose to check out the east MLK location. I was able to find free parking right in front, but that might have just been luck! The coffee shop is a huge open space with ample seating. It has really pretty natural light and a laid back environment. But, there’s a major issue. I don’t know if it’s an Austin thing….but this is the first coffee shop I’ve ever been to that had no outlets! I was planning on staying to work for the day, but my computer was almost dead so I had to leave. I got my go-to; an iced vanilla latte. It was okay tasting, but nothing super special. I was really sad about the outlets because the atmosphere of this coffee shop was my favorite by far.

Thunderbird Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Thunderbird Coffee
Location: 1401 W Koenig Ln, Austin, TX 78756
My Order: Iced Honey Nut Latte

Thunderbird has two locations, one with a cafe and one that is primarily a coffee shop. They had a big parking lot at the Koenig Lane location, and I had no trouble finding a spot. I saw a few people on Instagram say that their honey nut latte tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios, so I had to go try it for myself. It was so good! It was a little sweet and a little cinnamon-y. I was hoping to grab a latte and work all day here, but there were literally zero outlets, so I wasn’t able to stay. I don’t really understand the purpose of a coffee shop having no outlets…so I probably won’t be a regular here. But overall, I was really impressed with the drink I got.

Jo's Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Jo’s
Location: 1300 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Turbo

Jo’s is a super famous touristy coffee shop in Austin. It’s located on South Congress and is home to the famous “I love you so much” mural that you’ve surely seen all over the internet. Like I said, it’s on South Congress…so parking is kind of a nightmare. I ordered an Iced Turbo, which is one of the drinks they’re known for. The Iced Turbo is “a sweet, creamy, cold coffee drink! Chocolate, hazelnut, coffee and cream mixed together and served over crushed ice.” They also have a less sweet version available for those who don’t like sweet drinks as much as I do. I really liked this drink, especially considering I hate any drinks with chocolate in them. It was really refreshing and I would definitely get it again. While you’re strolling South Congress shopping and snapping pictures at the “I love you so much mural,” be sure to stop by Jo’s for a little pick-me-up.

Picnik Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Picnik*
Location: 1700 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

What sets Picnik apart from other coffee shops is that they serve innovative healthy food and drink options, including butter coffee. They have an actual restaurant and two trailer locations in Austin. I stopped at the trailer on South Lamar. It is so cute and small but also fun and inviting. The place was PACKED, and I see why. I think what draws so many people to Picnik for coffee is that you have so many options for add-ons to your drink, like butter, mct oil, whey protein and maple syrup to name a few. Coffee with butter is super popular among people who do the Keto diet. I’m not on the Keto diet, but that’s what I ordered anyways. I was so intrigued and wanted to see what it was all about! I got an iced vanilla latte, which usually comes with coffee, butter, mct oil, vanilla, maple syrup, and whey protein. I got it without the whey protein and added extra maple syrup. I was pleasantly surprised with my drink! I didn’t know what to expect with butter coffee, but I couldn’t even tell there was butter in it (which I’m happy about). Overall, my visit to Picnik was a really cool experience! I definitely recommend trying it out.

Revival Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Revival
Location: 1405 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Another day, another iced vanilla latte. Every time I drove by Revival I was drawn to the white walls and pink trim on the outside of the building – it’s so cute and goes with my style so well! Parking was tricky. They have a parking lot in front, but it only has like three parking spots. I had to drive down a few blocks to find a parking spot. I heard (but can’t confirm) that they have another parking lot in the back with more parking spots. It’s not quite as cute on the inside as it is on the outside, but Revival boasts tons of seating and room to work. This would be a great place to grab a coffee with a friend! It seemed a little too loud for me to be able to focus on work – I think most people there were meeting up with someone. Overall, I loved the vibe of this coffee shop. The latte was just so-so; nothing to write home about, but I would absolutely visit again. You definitely will want to take some cute Instagram pictures by the outside of the building!

Merit Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Merit
Location: 222 West Ave suite 120, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Merit was another coffee shop I found on Instagram. It was hands down the most beautiful coffee shop I’ve ever stepped inside. It had bright, minimalist decor that made me feel like I stepped into my own home. I visited the Seaholm location, so parking was a challenge. I didn’t really want to pay for parking for the whole day to work, but there was a lot of seating if I had decided to stay. I heard that Merit opened a second Austin location in the old Stonehouse coffee shop! I got an iced vanilla latte. It was pretty good, but definitely not on my list of favorites.

Alfred Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Alfred
Location: Inside the LINE hotel, 111 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Iced Oatmilk Vanilla Latte + Peanut Butter Cookie

Going to Alfred was the number one thing I wanted to accomplish this summer. I know that Alfred is super popular on the west coast, so I was ecstatic when I found out they had just opened one in Austin right before I moved. Alfred is located inside the LINE hotel right in the middle of downtown. Good luck finding any street parking – I had to pay to park in a ramp a few blocks away. By the end of the summer, I figured out a great life hack though – I asked the valets at the hotel, and they said that they do allow coffee shop visitors to keep their car in the valet area for a few hours for free. I wish I would have known this at the beginning of the summer, but now I know for next time! They have a pretty good selection of grab-and-go drinks and snacks, coffee drinks, and pastries. There’s a lot of seating because you are technically sitting in a hotel lobby. There’s also plenty of outlets! No coffee shops in Wisconsin have oat milk, so I really wanted to try it here. The first time I went, they didn’t have any. The next time I visited, they finally had it. It didn’t disappoint! The latte I got was so good. It would be dangerous if I lived near an Alfred because I would spend all my money there.

Flat Track Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Flat Track Coffee*
Location: 1619 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

This cute little coffee shop shares a space with a bike shop. It has a parking lot, but not a huge one. The inside of the coffee shop is very warm and inviting with tons of seating. They have the cutest back patio too – if it wasn’t over 100 degrees I could have sat out there all day long! The employees are all super nice. I really liked the overall vibe at Flat Track. There’s a little background noise, so bring headphones if you want to study. They have a big drink menu and also sell their own whole bean coffee that they roast in-house! The latte I got was pretty good – I actually had quite a few iced vanilla lattes here over the span of the summer. Flat Track is a very “Austin” coffee shop – I love it!

Cherrywood Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Cherrywood Coffeehouse*
Location: 1400 E 38th 1/2 St, Austin, TX 78722
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Cherrywood Coffeehouse gives off an eclectic Austin vibe that you feel from the minute you pull into the parking lot. They have plenty of parking available, which is good since it was super busy when I went! One of the best things about Cherrywood is their patio out back. It was dreamy – there were string lights and tons of seating. It would be a super fun place to spend time with your friends or attend one of the many events they offer. They have been open for 10 years, so Cherrywood knows the coffee shop business. They don’t just have coffee though, they also serve beer and a full menu of food. I got my iced vanilla latte and planted myself on the outdoor patio for a few hours. I really loved the relaxing atmosphere here and not to mention, the coffee was exceptional. Cherrywood is a hidden gem that you don’t want to miss.

Cenote Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Cenote*
Location: 1010 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Cenote is home to one of my all-time favorite lattes. They have two Austin locations, and I visited each one a few times over the summer. It seems like a pretty popular place to grab some food and a coffee – it was super busy every time I visited! Their menu boasts a variety of coffee, beer and wine, and food like breakfast tacos and sandwiches. Both locations are very spacious and have tons of places to sit. The Windsor Park location has ample free parking available, but parking at the East Cesar Chavez location can be challenging. I’ve drank a lot of vanilla lattes in my lifetime, this one in the top 5. Both locations were so conveniently located, so I stopped in quite a few times on my way to work. I definitely recommend trying out Cenote’s iced vanilla latte. I’ve heard great things about their food, so I will have to try it next time I stop in.

Bennu*
Location: 2001 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, TX 78702
My Order: Iced Latte with Butter Pecan and Caramel

Bennu is another coffee shop that I had heard so many great things about. It seems to be very popular among locals. They have 2 locations, and get this – they are open 24 hours a day. No more trying to find a coffee shop that’s open for your late night study session. I think this is the coolest thing ever. I have been to so many coffee shops where I had to leave by 5 or 6 even though I had just started working because they were closing. The inside of the coffee shop is huge, and they have tons of chairs and tables available. It was packed when I went. Bennu has a huge selection of syrups that you can add to your drinks. I decided to get an iced latte with butter pecan and caramel syrup. It was SO GOOD. I definitely recommend experimenting with the syrup flavors they have.

La Pâtisserre*
Location: 7301 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78757
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

La Pâtisserre is located in a little strip mall and has tons of free parking. I visited the Burnet Road location, but they also have one on Annie Street. When I walked in the doors of La Pâtisserre, I immediately felt like I was transported back to Paris. This french-themed bakery boasts a large menu of sweets and also has some great coffee options. The service was amazing, and the pastries and coffee were even better. They have a few small tables available inside and outside. It’s more of a place to catch up with your friend than to plant yourself to work for the day! While you’re there grabbing a coffee, make sure to grab a treat. You will not regret it! Along with my iced vanilla latte, they let me try out a variety of treats. Every single one was delicious – like seriously, some of the best pastries I’ve had in my whole life. The coffee was also amazing, and it complimented the pastries really well. Not gonna lie…I ate very single pastry in the photos above in less than a day. La Pâtisserie is a must-visit next time you are craving a sweet treat.

Kick Butt Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Kick Butt Coffee*
Location: 5775 Airport Blvd, Austin, TX 78752
My Order: White Chocolate and Caramel Frappe

Kick Butt Coffee is a unique coffee shop that offers much more than just a good ‘ol cup of joe. They offer comedy shows that are catered towards regular people rather than comedians. They are well known for the three shows they put on. I think it’s so cool that Kick Butt mixes coffee with music to create a fun community-centered environment. The space is huge and there is tons of seating. If you are visiting when there is not a show, it’s a fun, open environment to spend the day working. They also serve food, and I’ve heard that their lunch options are amazing. They have everything on their lunch menu – salads, pizza, sandwiches, and more. I visited during the day, and there were no events going on at the time. There were still a good amount of people there working away on their laptops or having meetings. The barista recommended their frappes, so I got one and added white chocolate and caramel syrups to it. It was super yummy, and a great value for the size you get. It tasted like a shake and gave me the caffeine pick-me-up I needed for the day.

Biderman’s*
Location: 3742 Far West Blvd #101, Austin, TX 78731
My Order: Cold Brew with Cream + Avocado Bagel Sandwich

Biderman’s is a jewish-inspired deli that has a full menu of bagels, sandwiches, and more. The bagels are what really drew me in – I read so many amazing reviews about them online. They are located in a little strip mall that has plenty of free parking available. Inside, Biderman’s is a huge open space. Despite this, every single table was full and the place was packed, which told me it must be really good. It was a hard decision when it came time to order, but I opted for an avocado bagel sandwich and a cold brew. The bagel came open faced and was topped with cream cheese, avocado, and sea salt. It was AMAZING. The cold brew was really good too – the bagel and coffee combined made for a really great breakfast. Biderman’s raving reviews speak for themselves. It is definitely somewhere you don’t want to miss.

Cosmic Coffee Austin, Iced Coffee, Cozy Coffee Shop, Coffee Shops Vibe

Cosmic Coffee*
Location: 121 Pickle Rd, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Caramel Latte

Cosmic was one of the very first coffee shops I visited in Austin, and it really set a high standard. It seems to be another really popular place for locals to hang out. They have the most beautiful outdoor area with a lot of seating and pretty landscaping. They also have cool water misting in the outdoor areas during the hot summers and plenty of shade. The inside of the coffee shop has a lot of seating too. There are an array of food trucks right outside, so they make it easy to grab some tacos and a coffee and sit down to relax. They have a huge parking lot that was full every time I visited – and for good reason. I got an iced caramel latte, and according to the notes on my phone, it was “very, very, very, very good.” The atmosphere at Cosmic is so relaxing and inviting. It’s a really great place to spend your day, and it’s a damn good cup of coffee.

Mañana
Location: 1603 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte + Everything Kolache

Mañana is such a beautiful coffee shop. They have tons of natural light, a prime location, and their decor is really well done. They have some indoor seating available and a cute little patio out back with plenty of seating. I visited with a friend, and she said I had to try the Everything Kolache. So, I got one and also an iced vanilla latte. The coffee was slightly underwhelming, but man, the kolache I got was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. It’s like an everything bagel but 100 times better. While it might not be my go-to place to grab a coffee, I will for sure be returning for another one (or 5) of their everything kolaches.

Mazama*
Location: 301 Mercer St, Dripping Springs, TX 78620
My Order: Iced Latte with White Mocha and Caramel

This gem is a little bit of a drive outside the city, but it is SO worth it. Mazama is one of my favorites! The coffee shop has such a hometown feel, and it has ample work space and a great atmosphere. They have plenty of parking available. When you walk inside, you instantly feel welcomed. They have plenty of seating and a beautiful outdoor patio. I haven’t seen white mocha syrup at many coffee shops in Austin, so I was super excited to try it here. I ended up getting an iced latte with white mocha and caramel. This drink was on another level of great – I still think about it months later. If you’re looking to get out of the city, a day trip to Mazama in Dripping Springs is the perfect solution.

Hanks
Location: 5811 Berkman Dr, Austin, TX 78723
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Hanks is my favorite place in Austin to take some cute Instagram pictures. They have the most beautiful space with marble tables and the prettiest outdoor decor. If I’m being honest, the coffee is sub-par. The only times I ever went there was just to take pictures! They do have a ton of indoor and outdoor seating and places you can sit down and work for the day. It’s such a relaxed, calm environment with a great vibe. They also have a bar and restaurant!

Malone*
Location: 1434 Wells Branch Pkwy, Pflugerville, TX 78660
My Order: Iced Southside Caramel

Malone is another one of my favorites! It’s a cute little trailer in the HEB parking lot (they have two other trailers too). I was so excited to try Malone because I drove past it every single day. It was only a mile away from where I lived for the summer! Malone serves organic locally roasted coffee and offers a lot of different drink options. I opted for the iced southside caramel because we all know I love caramel. It was as delicious as it sounded – I’m really glad I tried it. It was super sweet, which I loved. My cousin got an iced chai that I tried and that was also exceptionally good. I really love when coffee shops have their own specialty drink menu and I’m able to try something other than just a plain old iced vanilla latte!

Easy Tiger*
Location: 709 E 6th St, Austin, TX 78701
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Easy Tiger has a prime location on 6th street. There are so many great things you can do within walking distance of Easy Tiger. Like you probably guessed, the only parking is metered, and it is limited. I only visited the bakery, but downstairs under the bakery is a full restaurant and beer garden that I’ve heard great things about. They have an impressive variety of food and drink options. The pastries they had on display looked amazing. I got my usual iced vanilla latte. It was a little less sweet than I usually liked, but the espresso was very good. For someone who likes drinks not as sweet, you’d love this latte. Easy Tiger seems like a really fun place to hang out between the bakery and beer garden. The amazing location makes it a great place to stop and grab a coffee and a pastry when you’re downtown!

Mozart’s*
Location: 3825 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, TX 78703
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte + Peanut Butter Cookie

Mozart’s has the most beautiful location. They have a huge patio overlooking the shores of Lake Austin where they host live music often and are known for their Christmas light show in the winter months. Sadly, the parking is the worst. There is a parking lot, but good luck finding a spot. It’s worth it to park farther away and walk though. Mozart’s has a wide array of pastries available along with their drink menu. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating overlooking an amazing view. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and a peanut butter cookie. Both were exceptional, and you definitely get bang for your buck. The latte filled an entire pint glass, and the cookie was easily as big as my hand. The great value, delicious tastes, and amazing views make Mozart’s an amazing place to spend a day.

My Order: Blended Blondie

This cute little truck is a little bit of a drive from downtown Austin, but it’s SO worth it. They have a walk-up window and a drive thru. I wish it wasn’t such a drive from Pflugerville, or I would have gone every day. It’s owned by a sweet couple from Oregon, and they are so nice. They are opening up a new location soon in New Braunfels! I got a blended blondie. I was super excited to try it because it was a nice change from my usual iced vanilla latte. They have affordable prices, great drink size, and a huge menu so there’s something for everyone. This was by far the best blended coffee drink I’ve ever had in my life. My visit to Jolt was a really great experience, and I can’t wait until my next visit.

Angel Donuts and Treats*
Location: 8300 North FM 620, Austin, TX 78726
My Order: Iced Caramel Macchiato + Ham and Cheese Croissant

Angel Donuts and Treats was a short drive to northwest Austin. They are located in a strip mall and had plenty of parking. The tables and chairs were filled with people working and having a good time. They opened in 2012 and clearly have a huge amount of regulars. They also had some really nice outdoor seating available. I think some people (myself included) really underestimate the coffee at places that aren’t solely a coffee shop. Angel Donuts and Treats obviously specializes in treats, but WOW their coffee blew me away. Of course, they had a wide array of both savory and sweet treats. They all looked amazing, so it was really hard to choose. They have everything; donuts, macarons, donut ice cream sandwiches (!!!), kolaches, cake balls, coffee, and more. I ended up ordering an iced caramel macchiato and a ham and cheese croissant. Both were exceptional – I wish I could enjoy them both every day. This is another place you don’t want to miss next time you’re in Austin.

My Order: Iced Butterscotch Latte

Cuppa Austin is a cute little coffee shop in a strip mall in northern Austin. There’s plenty of free parking available. They have created a warm, inviting environment – there are big comfy chairs and plenty of outlets, so it’s a great place to spend the day. They opened in 2013, so they definitely know what they’re doing in the coffee business. I was SO excited to see an iced butterscotch latte on the menu. I have been searching high and low for a butterscotch latte and hadn’t found one until now! I don’t understand why nobody else offers butterscotch lattes. Cuppa Austin really nailed it. This latte was as delicious as I imagined it would be.

My Order: Cold Brew with Almond Milk

I stopped into Blenders + Bowls to grab a smoothie bowl, and I was thrilled to find out they also serve cold brew. I was craving a little mid-day pick me up, and this was the perfect place to get it. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, I’m not much of a cold brew person. As far as coffee drink goes, they only serve cold brew, so I didn’t have much of an option. I added almond milk to mine. I took the first sip, and I was pleasantly surprised! Their cold brew was so smooth and just the right amount of strong. It was so refreshing on a hot summer day. Be sure to also get a smoothie bowl when you stop in – they are equally as amazing as their cold brew! If you want to read more about how great their açai bowls are, you can check out my post on the best smoothies and bowls in Austin HERE. Blenders + Bowls officially has a new fan!

Barrett’s*

My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Barrett’s is a super spacious coffee shop that has a really great vibe. The only major downside is that parking is super limited. The building has a very Austin feeling to it – the outside has some really cool graffiti art painting on the building. I’ve heard they have bomb breakfast tacos too! The baristas that work there are so nice and gave great recommendations. I got my go-to iced vanilla latte, and it was very good. I was really impressed with the quality of the latte and the cozy atmosphere inside.

My Order: Iced Latte with Vanilla and Caramel

Irie Bean is a cute little coffee shop nestled on South Lamar. They have a full menu of coffee, wine, beer, and treats. It’s a great place to catch some live music too! Irie Bean has a very “community” feel that you notice the second you walk inside. It’s a very welcoming coffee shop and they’re open until 10, which is so awesome for night owls! They use beans from Texas Coffee Traders, and I think it’s so cool that they support a local roaster. I got an iced latte with vanilla and caramel, and it was very very good. It was a great size for the price, and the espresso was so smooth. I’m really glad I ordered both syrups, and it was the perfect amount of sweet for me! I really loved Irie Bean, and I will for sure be coming back!

My Order: Iced Orion Latte

Square Peg is the cutest little coffee trailer on the UT campus. If I was a student here, it would for sure be my go-to coffee stop. It is in such a great location for college students. The service is fast and friendly. The barista gave me some great drink recommendations and really took the time to ask what I liked and didn’t like in my coffee drinks. He recommended the Orion Latte, so I gave it a shot. He was right, it was amazing! It was one of my all time favorite lattes this summer. It tasted like a liquid milky way, and the espresso inside was so smooth and tasty. They also have some great grab-and-go food options, and you can even add holographic edible glitter to your drink (so fun)! Square Peg is a great, quick stop to grab a pick-me-up, even if you don’t attend UT. They are proof that you don’t need to have a huge brick-and-mortar operation to serve amazing coffee.

The Hive*
Location: 10415 Old Manchaca Rd C, Austin, TX 78748
My Order: Iced Caramel Macchiato

I stumbled upon the Hive when I was researching co-working spaces in Austin. There are so many co-working spaces in the city, but a lot of them are expensive and require a membership. The Hive is a the perfect solution! It’s a free co-working space (that’s right, FREE) centered around parents and children. If you need it, they do have supervised childcare options available. This is such a great place to go if you have kids and also work. I obviously don’t have kids, but I still had a great experience at the Hive and didn’t feel out of place. They have a huge free parking lot and large outdoor fenced-in space for kids to play. You can hang out and sit in the main area for free, but if you need a little more privacy, you can rent a desk or the boardroom. They operate out of an old house that the owners gutted. It’s such a beautiful, well-decorated space with tons of comfy seating and free wifi! As if a free co-working space could get any better, they also have coffee. I got an iced caramel macchiato and it was better than Starbucks. It was the best! I loved my drink, and even more than that, I love the concept of the Hive. It’s so awesome to see a company offering co-working catered to working moms. I have never seen any businesses like that and I can’t wait to watch the Hive continue to grow.

My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Coffee Shark serves coffee, food, and beer – the best things in life! They are located in a little strip mall a little bit outside of downtown. It’s worth the drive! They have plenty of free parking available. Their space is so pretty. It had minimalist decor and tons of indoor and outdoor seating. The space was very open and inviting. I got an iced vanilla latte and my cousin got an iced chai. Both drinks were amazing! The atmosphere of coffee shark made me want to stay there all day. I was really impressed with the space and the coffee.

Anderson’s*
Location: 1601 W 38th St, Austin, TX 78731
My Order: Cup of Black Coffee + Ground New Guinea Peaberry Coffee

Anderson’s in well-known in the Austin community for several reasons. They have been open since 1972, and they are still operating out of the same building as when they opened. They are known for their roasting and large selection of coffee beans. There are even samples available so you can find exactly what you’re looking for! The staff is knowledgable and friendly, and they are more than happy to assist you in finding the perfect blend. When you step inside, you’re instantly surrounded by a delicious coffee aroma. Anderson’s is not a coffee shop, and if you’re looking for a fancy coffee drink you’ve come to the wrong spot. But, if you’re looking for a huge selection of coffee beans and a hot cup of fresh coffee for $1, Anderson’s is perfect for you.

My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

This place was a little bit out of town, but the drive was so worth it. It is so cute on the inside and outside – the decor is very much my aesthetic. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, which is surprisingly relaxing. They have a big parking lot with plenty of spots. Like the name suggests, they have a goat outside the coffee shop! His name is Butters – he sadly wasn’t there when I visited. Civil Goat is not just a coffee shop, they also roast and sell their own coffee. I opted for an iced vanilla latte – it is in the top five of my favorite lattes. It was AMAZING. The espresso was smooth and the prices were affordable. I could have hung out there all day! Overall, Civil Goat is a really fun experience and you definitely want to make a stop here next time you’re in Austin.

Wild Chix & Waffles*
Location: 7714 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78757
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte + Chicken Strips with Waffle Fries

Formerly known as the Factory Cafe, Wild Chix & Waffles is the cutest little restaurant and coffee shop. They are located in a strip mall and have tons of parking available. I was drawn in to try their coffee, but they also have a huge food menu that I was dying to try. They have iPads that you can use for ordering if you don’t feel like waiting in line to order with a person. The introverted side of me loved this – I was able to customize my order exactly how I wanted it on the iPad. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. It was beautifully decorated, and you could tell a lot of time was spent on their branding and decorating. I was so impressed by both the latte and the food. The latte had a creamy texture to it and a little foam on top. It was the right amount of sweet. The chicken strips and waffle fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. This is such a great place to grab lunch and a coffee with your friends, and I was very impressed by my overall experience!

Cypress Creek Coffee Company*
Location: 2100 Cypress Creek Rd Suite 200, Cedar Park, TX 78613
My Order: Blended Caramel Coffee

Cypress Creek is located in Cedar Park. It has such a chill, relaxed vibe that I love. It’s a great place to go if you want a quiet work space. They have a huge parking lot, so parking is no problem. The space is really open and inviting. I planted myself in one of their comfy armchairs for the day – it was a nice change from the hard uncomfortable chairs at Starbucks. They have a huge menu, and I decided to try out something a little different – a blended caramel coffee. It’s a lot like a frappuccino or shake consistency. It was a really good sized drink and really liked it! Overall, Cypress Creek Coffee Company is a great place to spend the day working or spending time with friends.

Patika*
Location: 2159 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte + Biscuits and Gravy with Toast

Patika has the cutest decor, inside and out. They have tons of free parking available, so you have no reason not to go! I stopped in for breakfast and a coffee. I definitely understand why this place was completely packed when I went on a random weekday morning. The restaurant has such an “Austin” feel to it – I love it. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating, but just be warned that you might not be able to find an open seat! It seems like a very popular coffee shop/brunch place where locals gather. Eventually, I found a seat and set up my work station for the day. I got an iced vanilla latte, which paired perfectly with the breakfast I ordered. I’m not a huge breakfast person, and I’m also not one to try new foods, but I accomplished both during my visit to Patika. I was shocked at how amazing the biscuits and gravy were. The dish is made from sweet potato, poblano, goat cheese, chorizo gravy, fried eggs, and green onion. All I can say is WOW. The breakfast and the latte were the most perfect combination. I spent the whole morning working here because the atmosphere was so great. Patika is a must-visit for breakfast!

My Order: Cinnamon Roll + Iced Honey Nut Latte

This cute little food truck is a must-stop on your morning commute. They are known for their baked goods, so I had to try a cinnamon roll. I also got an iced honey nut latte because it sounded amazing. Let me tell you, it tasted even better than it sounds. It literally tasted like liquid honey nut cheerios – it was so good! They have two sizes available for drinks, which I like. A lot of Austin coffee shops just have one small size, which is usually great. Some days I need a few more ounces of coffee though, so I love when coffee shops offer options! Overall I really loved Teal House. If it was on my morning commute, I’d be there every day. If you’re looking to be the office hero, stop by and grab a dozen Teal House cinnamon rolls on your way to work. Be sure to try one of their amazing coffee drinks too!

My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

This cute little airstream trailer is located at the Mueller Farmers Market. They specialize in providing a convenient place to get coffee, tea, and cold brew. Parking in Mueller is tricky, especially on weekends. I can’t get over how cool it is to have a coffee shop out of an airstream trailer. If I owned a coffee shop, that’s what I would want it to look like. There are some picnic tables outside if you want to stay and hang out for awhile. Their espresso is very good. I got an iced vanilla latte and I drank it in record time. It’s a great place to stop if you’re walking around the Mueller Farmers Market on a Sunday.

My Order: Iced Vanilla Latte

Cuvée is a super popular Austin coffee shop. They have a huge, open space full of tables and chairs. It’s a great place to spend the day working! There’s also plenty of free parking in the parking lot outside. The people at Cuvée really made it stand out to me. Every employee I interacted with was so kind and really made me feel like I was appreciated as a customer. Great customer service really stands out to me – you can’t have a great business without great customer service! My drink was delicious, and it was a good size too. Cuvée is also known for their coffee roasting. I often see Cuvée coffee being served at other coffee shops around town. They are constantly working on providing the best ethically sourced coffee possible. You can buy bags of whole bean coffee on their website, or you can stop in and grab a bag and a drink!

My Order: Iced Cereal Milk Latte

Come for the coffee, stay for the ice cream. Both are seriously AMAZING. And the best part is, everything is dairy free! The Nada Moo scoop shop is located on South Lamar. They do have a parking lot, but it can fill up fast. It is just the cutest little shop – I loved everything, especially the sprinkle wall outside! They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, so you can grab a coffee and ice cream and stay for awhile. One of the employees recommended the cereal milk latte to me. It seemed a little out of my comfort zone, but I’m so happy I tried it. The main thing that makes Nada Moo so unique is, as the name suggests, all of their ice cream and coffee drinks are diary free. I know there’s not too many options for dairy free ice cream out there, so I think it’s really cool that they have perfected dairy-free ice cream. The cereal milk latte was so amazing – I couldn’t even tell there wasn’t normal milk in it. It was just the right amount of sweet and was super refreshing on a hot day. It was the best of both worlds, cereal and coffee! Nada Moo is a must-visit stop in Austin in my opinion.

Stouthaus*

My Order: Iced Caramel Latte

Stouthaus is another one that lands at the top of my favorites list. They have been open for four years, and their focus on community sets them apart from other coffee shops. I met one of the owners, Sandy, and she was kind enough to share a little bit about what Stouthaus is all about. She started out by pointing out the large word painted on the wall, “Stammtisch”. It translates to “regular’s table”, and it is painted on the Stouthaus wall because the owners want the whole place to feel like a regulars table. They strive for a community feel and creating a relaxing and welcoming space. They’re doing a great job – I immediately picked up on the community feel when I walked inside. It’s located in south Austin and has plenty of parking available. As far is drinks go, Stouthaus has a large variety of coffee drinks available. I got an iced caramel latte, and it was in the top 5 best lattes I’ve had in my life. I seriously could have drank three of them. I was able to spend the whole day working here because it’s such a great environment. They have great outdoor seating too, in case you want to take it outside. They also serve craft beer! Stouthaus is definitely worth your time.

My Order: Iced Wintermoon

Eek! I am so in love with this place. There’s a bunch of locations all over Austin. I actually tried out almost all of the locations, and while they were all different, I really enjoyed each and every visit! They seem like they’re pretty busy all the time. The only minor thing that I didn’t love was that all of the Summermoon locations have dark lighting. I only mention this because sometimes I work better in bright spaces! The drink that got me hooked is the Wintermoon. It’s their specialty drink – iced espresso with either three or four shots topped with moon milk (their secret sweetened delicious milk). The drink is super sweet and creamy. It almost tastes like the milk at the bottom of your cereal bowl! They also offer a halfmoon if the Wintermoon is too sweet for you, along with a full menu of other drinks. I seriously cannot stay away from this place. I have dreams about this coffee!

Thank you so much for browsing through my Austin Coffee Guide. This is the most fun project I have ever worked on, and also one of the most time consuming. I am so proud of the final product and genuinely hope this helps anyone traveling to or living in Austin who needs a coffee fix. I am beyond grateful for all the wonderful businesses that partnered with me on this post – it was amazing to see the heart and soul real people pour into these businesses every day.
Also, please note that the map at the beginning of this post is NOT perfectly drawn to scale. It is a fun drawing I wanted to make so you have a general idea of where coffee shops are located. Most of them are pretty close to their location, but be sure to consult an actual map before you go!
This post would not have been made possible without these amazing sponsors: Irene’s, Seventh Flag, West Pecan Coffee, Caffe Medici, Violet Crown Coffee, Greater Goods Coffee Roasters, Illuminate Coffee Bar, The Austin Coffee Trailer, Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge, Caroline, The Tasty Spoon, Picnik, Flat Track, Cherrywood Coffeehouse, Cenote, Bennu, La Pâtisserre, Kick Butt Coffee, Biderman’s Deli, Cosmic Coffee, Mazama, Malone, Easy Tiger, Stonehouse, Mozart’s, Jolt, Angel Donuts and Treats, Cuppa Austin, Blenders and Bowls, Barretts, Texas Coffee Traders, Irie Bean, Square Peg, The Hive, Stouthaus, Anderson’s, Nada Moo, Joel’s Coffee, and Coffee Shark.

Noticed that you highlighted the Burnet Summermoon and noted that all Summermoon locations are dark. If you haven’t been yet, I’d recommend the Anderson location just 5 mins from Burnet. Super bright in there; work there all the time and it’s probably the most work-friendly of the locations in the immediate area.
